1. How did you first find your love for creating music?
I think I found my love for creating music very early on. I’d say the first time I heard “Some Like You” by Adele, I knew I’d love to create art that beautiful and layered.
2. What was the creative process like with this song? And what inspired the creation?
The process usually starts with me at my piano just venting, then I send it to my producer and he brings the production to life. For this song, I knew the feeling, but writing it out and pairing it with keys, made the entire concept of the lyrics clear. Wanting not just to be looked at, but to be seen.
3. Was there a specific moment in the studio when you knew ‘With Just Your Eyes’ was special? Something that clicked?
I knew “With Just Your Eyes” was special when it was absolutely terrifying to share with anyone. I knew I had just created something real, and deep, and honest. I think this is my most honest song yet.
4. Who is someone you’d like to collaborate with?
I would love to collab with Frank Ocean one day. I admire how his music takes you to his own universe, I strive for mine to do the same. Or Lana Del Rey for the exact same reason and how seen her music makes people feel.
5. This song feels like a new era. What does that era look like? And what’s next for you?
This era looks like full honesty and unapologetic authenticity. I think the visual world of this era is anything passionate, intimate, and thought provoking. As for what’s next, my next drop is ready! “What Did You Expect” is 1000% the most layered song I’ve ever made. There’s what you hear, and there’s what you listen for.
