Artist Spotlight: MVS

“It’s about capturing that inner conflict between holding on and letting go.”

About the music

“Blue Caspian Sea” by MVS has been on repeat since the day it came out. MVS’s vocals are incredible on the record, and the lyrics are deeply personal yet completely universal. The production is dreamy feeling, like you’re literally surrounded by the Blue Caspian Sea.

Get to Know MVS

1.  The track explores that tension between holding on and letting go. When you were writing it, did you lean more into the ache of memory or the freedom of release?

“I definitely leaned into the ache of memory. Sometimes the heart clings to what it can’t have, and that ache becomes the only thing keeping the memory alive. Writing “Blue Caspian Sea” was my way of sitting with that not trying to heal it or move on, but to honor it. It’s about the beauty that still exists in missing someone, and how that longing shapes you even when they’re gone.”

2.  There’s a dreamy, almost cinematic weight in the production. What was your vision for how the song should sound sonically?

“I wanted it to feel like remembering hazy, fluid, and suspended between what was real and what’s imagined. The production builds like a wave that never fully crashes. There’s motion, but also restraint, like you’re caught in the undertow of a memory you can’t quite escape. It’s meant to feel vast but intimate, like staring out at the ocean and realizing it’s holding all your secrets.”

3.  Your lyrics balance intimacy with universality, when you write details that specific, do you see them as your secret, or as an anchor for listeners to hold on to?

“Both, honestly. The details start as mine personal moments, words, or looks that only existed in one connection. But once they’re written into a song, they stop belonging to just me. I think that’s the magic of music: you can write something heartbreakingly specific, and somehow it becomes everyone’s story. Those small truths become anchors for people to find their own reflection.”

4.  If “Blue Caspian Sea” is a chapter in your catalog, what kind of chapter is it, a turning point, a reflection, or a glimpse of where you’re headed?

“It’s a reflection, but also a quiet turning point. It looks back with tenderness, but it also acknowledges that not everything that’s beautiful is meant to stay. In that way, it’s a bridge — from nostalgia into acceptance. I think this song opened a new space for me creatively, one where I’m more honest with silence and impermanence.”

5.  With that being said, are there any future projects we should be getting excited for?

“Yes, I’m currently working on an album called “Red Heart Academy.” It’s a project about going inward, learning to love yourself, and realizing you deserve more than what you’ve been accepting. It’s also about embracing the fact that you love deeply and that’s not a weakness, it’s a strength. This album is a reminder that healing and self-worth are powerful forms of love too. And that album will be released February 14, 2026.”
